Aftercare instructions for dermaplaning treatments

Dermaplane

Hey, gorgeous! Hope you’re loving the results of your Dermaplane. In order to maintain these glowing results at home with no issues, please follow proper aftercare.

After a dermaplane, your skin is in a vulnerable state. It has been thoroughly exfoliated, and we have removed the fine vellus hairs, which typically block a very small amount of UV exposure. In order to mitigate sensitivity or irritation, utilize these tips:

- Change or wash your pillowcases tonight. This will minimize the amount of potential bacteria the skin could be exposed to.
- Although your skin is baby smooth and it might be tempting, avoid touching your face. Again, this will minimize the amount of bacteria and pathogens coming into contact with your skin. If you need to touch your face, wash your hands thoroughly beforehand.
- If you wear makeup, try to hold off for the remainder of the day, especially if you are acne prone. When you do return to wearing makeup, make sure it is applied with either clean hands, clean makeup brushes, or clean makeup sponges.
- Avoid chemical and physical exfoliants for a minimum of 48 hours unless otherwise specified by your provider. This includes lactic acid, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, mandelic acid, retinol or other RETinoids, scrubs, enzymes, anything labeled AHA or BHA, and really most ingredients that end with “acid” aside from hyaluronic.
- For one week following the treatment, you should be diligent about wearing your SPF and avoiding direct sunlight, but if you are exposed to direct light, reapply every 1.5-2 hours. (We hope you are doing this anyways, but it is extra important post treatment.
